Jonathan Anderson Takes Us On a Delightful Garden

Jonathan Anderson and his team at Dior couldn’t have planned a more perfect day to take a walk through Paris’ Jardin des Tuileries. The sun was shining brightly on the makeshift greenhouse that seated guests as the first models took to the runway, situated atop a waterlily pond.

It was immediately clear from the first look, which featured a polka-dotted ruffled tulle skirt with a flowing train, that this collection would be a delight. A delight it was, with intricate, eye-catching details that flounced and flowed in the wind as the models briskly traversed past the audience.

Romantic Silhouettes Meet House Heritage

The ready-to-wear was full of Anderson signatures, like denim—both classic and more elevated styles sprinkled with crystals—plays on proportion, and romantic, dreamy silhouettes. Still, the collection feels inherently Dior. Nods to the House’s history were present throughout, including plenty of florals (Monsieur Dior loved them) and modern takes on the classic Dior Bar Jacket.

The bags, too, included new takes on Dior’s most important House codes, like its iconic cannage quilting, which was seen on a new handheld hobo, clutched by models in soft suede or leather and finished with classic D-I-O-R charms. Anderson’s take on the classic shopper, finished with his signature bow, was also seen in cannage leather and suede.

Anderson continues to expand on the bags he debuted last season, including the relaxed Diorly and Spring’s ladylike, top-handled Cigale bag, shown in bold exotics and a fun polka-dotted print. Other bags, like the Dior Crunchy and an array of novelty clutches, see the addition of intricate florals.
